ABOUT

Along with my training as a psychotherapist, and my own life experience and personal journey of healing, my work as a therapist is also informed by my academic training in philosophy and theology and my interests in music and nature. I tend to think of the issues we face in life in existential and humanistic terms, that is, as issues that, though unique to our individual experience, are faced by each of us as a part of the human condition, and that there is great spiritual depth to the work of living a rich and meaningful life.

As a lover of the outdoors, I think of myself in relation to my work as a psychotherapist as someone who is observant of and knowledgable about natural processes, has a good deal of experience traveling through wild places, and who can accompany and guide someone traveling through their own wilderness. As a musician, I think of my work as a psychotherapist as that of a bass player, where my role is to be supportive of the other musicians — to provide a foundation of harmony and rhythm for creative exploration and self expression.
